Recent Downtime
last modified February 22 by blence
OpenPlans.org and NYCstreets.org were temporarily offline earlier this week due to security concerns.
The Open Planning Project would like to apologize for the unanticipated downtime on OpenPlans.org and NYCstreets.org earlier this week. The OpenPlans Team pulled both sites from the web last Monday due to a security breech. Once our team noticed the problem, we immediately took both sites offline until we were confident that our servers were secure. Currently, both sites are up and running at full capacity.
Although we are still investigating the details of the breech, we know these facts:
-No member data was corrupted or lost.
-The goal of the break-in was to use our servers to send out spam to random email addresses.
We do not believe the goal of the break-in was to steal personal information, email addresses, or other member information contained on OpenPlans.org and NYCstreets.org.
If you have any questions regarding the break-in, your personal information, or the security precautions we are taking, please email Bryan Lence, our Digital Community Director, here.
The Open Planning Project takes security and member privacy seriously. We are working to ensure this never happens again, and we thank you for you patience and understanding due to OpenPlans.org and NYCstreets.org’s downtime.
Sincerely,
The Open Planning Project
