This is the home page.  It's actually a wiki page with a rich text editor - try the "edit" button above.

Getting Started

Archive is here.

THE MIT PAGE:  most of the course materials are here
Start by reading the syllabus
then download everything here
... except the lecture audio files; for those, read this  and then get the audio from the MIT iCampus XTutor (public implementation of the online tutor system) here (You'll need to register for an iCampus account first)
You can see videos from 1986 of the lectures here
You can also see old tutorials and exercises from ex-TA's here and here

Schedule : Week 2 is underway!  After that, let's come up with a target end-of-semester date and set target dates for each assigment, etc.  Since this is an informal group I expect to be somewhat lax about people getting stuff done on time. Nobody's grading us!   And if we wanted to follow MIT's schedule we should have started already  :-)

Assessment:  Since we don't have a professor, how will we know if our work is any good?  I don't think we have much choice here, it's peer review or nothing.  Nobody is obliged to review any or all other participants' work, but I think we'll all be much stronger if we spend some time doing it.  We do however have the advantage of the online XTutor to mark some of the assignments for us here.

Some art for the walls :

Perhaps we need a little diversion in the classroom...

How to use this wiki

Create a new wiki page: Add a new page by enclosing the title of the page name in ((double parentheses)). This will convert the text into a link; clicking on this link will create the new page. If a page with that name already exists, the text will instead link to that page.

External links: the editor is glitchy, there's an invisible external link button hidden to the right of the internal link button.
Or just use the raw html mode (there's a button for that).

We should be able to upload files here too,  try the "manage attachments" link at the bottom when in edit mode.
