What has to be done?

To find out how you can help, please have a look at the Tasks list to pick one or create a new task with description and even take this task prior starting work. So everybody can be in sync and we avoid double actions.

Feel free to join this project and to help us in creating a nice and accessible Plone theme.

  • Join the Mailing Lists!
  • Take a look at the IRC channel #plone.pizza at irc://irc.freenode.org
  • Invite others to join OpenPlans as a member and become an active contributor !

How to dive in

Create a new page: Add a new page by enclosing the title of the page name in ((double parentheses)). This will convert the text into a link; clicking on this link will create the new page. If a page with that name already exists, the text will instead link to that page.

Keep a local copy of significant EDITS prior to saving. Concurrent edits are cannot be well handled by the system and not every browser allowes to get back to your work! (Thanks, for this tipp!)

Migration-Note: If you are interested in the history of this pages prior to the migration from the original page at the Plone Conference 2007 sprint pages, please use the history of the predecessors there!

This Project aims to continue the collective work that has been started during the 'New Example Skins' sprint in Naples. A lot of good work has been done during that sprint and we would like to continue now working with the results from this teamwork.

State of the project after the sprint.

Theme development has been started during the sprint. Explaining some aspects of development environment and setting it up took some time but is documented now.

The "plonetheme.pizza" theme

New Plone theme's name is plonetheme.pizza. It is placed into collective:

https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/plonetheme.pizza

NOTE: If you had checked out with the http address in the past instead of https as described now, you may had noticed that you cannot checkin back your code into the collective. You cannot checkin with https when you had checked out with http. So in this case, checkout again and copy over your changed files by hand.

Some branches has been created during the sprint, targeted to working with different parts of the theme:

Manipulate global navbar (tabs)

Jarno started to make a documentation on manipulating the global navigation illustrated with some graphics by Armin.

Create your own branch on svn

Please if you want to do something for this theme, best you can do - create your own branch. Read this before you mess our svn to find out how to do this right.

Some helpful (maybe off topic) information should be collected or linked by the developers starting in the Theme Development Trick Box

Initial Ideas and Mockups

  • Initial ideas and mockups for plonetheme.pizza are located here - capri-theme
    Capri theme first draft
  • We had one more Plone theme design - plonetheme.napoli.
The Theme design was developed by Luke Aune. For now the main project is focused on finishing plonetheme.pizza. Luke continues working with plonetheme.napoli and we will help him after completing plonetheme.pizza.
This branch is located in the collective too: http://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/plonetheme.napoli/

Migration

The Sprint Content Migration ToDo List has to be finished soon, to keep all the content in one place!

Content overview

Sometimes it is a little bit confusing taking the overview of a project at OpenPlans because Wiki Content has some drawbacks too.
  1. The important topics should start from this Frontpage
  2. Finer grained stuff can lead easily to be lost in the deep of content.
For this case only, provide some manually created links that lead back to a starting point or some back/forward navigation.
  3. Use the cool "Pull-Quote" style to place excerpts in the gutter column!
This text should become a pull-quote too, if this space is needed for content!
