About
I have been active in the Vancouver art community both as an artist and a teacher since 1980. I taught painting at Emily Carr University of Art + Design from 1987 until I became Academic Dean there in 2004. I’ve been thinking about how we live in an increasingly networked society. We are now able to stay connected to each other via the telephone and the internet as we move through our daily lives. Recent changes in mobile telephones and wireless computer networks have changed how we communicate with each other along with our sense of community. I have been making drawings that use simple polygons to connect points and create form. I see these drawings as graphs of connected points which represent networks. I am interested in how we create a community and how we arrive at our sense of place. I am wondering if I could use the locations of various mobile devices to create drawings?
