Pairing and Talking

Yesterday I spent most of my time chatting about code. I learned alot of exciting things about varnish, nginx, grok, zparser, zope 3 and storm. In several case, folks adopted these technologies after deep experience with technologies we use or are considering using, notably Squid, apache, server side rendered templates, SQLAlchemy and of course, zope2 and plone.

I spent a good bit of time talking to folks about approaches for starting projects and did some pairing to show folks how to use setuptools and pastescript. I was able to show some folks some tricks we use when working in Five. I spent a goodly amount of time chatting with robert, jeff and ethan about their impressions of where the openplans ship was headed. I sat in on a meeting for creating unified js and css handling via viewlets that would allow for dynamic scoping of compressed resources.

I came out of yesterday with alot of new ideas I want to explore and a new impression of what our future architecture might look like. Or at least a clear idea of where I would start if I were building a new system.
