A few questions from the Refreshments Dept. about the Camp5 classroom, access to the building, and policies on food. If you have answers, please fill in the blanks..

  • Any ideas about where to store urns, etc. overnight? Any chance of leaving at least one of them in-place, with an early-morning timer for the first batch of coffee? (dave p. - i don't know about the pot on the timer...we could try leaving it out in the sitting area in front of 2001...but i wouldn't say that's "secure".)
  • Similarly, is there any secure storage (a closet or large cabinet) we can use for food and other supplies? This would cut down on the amount of lugging stuff daily..(everything else can go in my office, or the tech core - dp)
  • How about a place we can clean the coffee urns each night? Ideally not too far away, with a large kitchen sink..(the nearest kitchen is downstairs in Beard Hall, across from the Tech Core in the student lounge - dp)
  • Any nearby sources for last-minute daily shopping? I mean stuff like
    • ice (any convenient store or grocery store [see below]  - dp)
    • dairy (Hairy Peeter on 54 near 15-501?...or whole foods on franklin st... or HT in Carrboro, Greensboro st...take your pick - dp)
    • bread, pastries (panera franklin st. - dp)
    • fruit, cheese (HT, Whole Foods, etc. - dp)
  • Is there any (nearby) overnight fridge space? Just enough for some dairy and fruit. (tech core - small fridge...bigger in student lounge...but heavily trafficked - dp)
  • Are we still expecting another event for the Camp5 classroom during the week? What day(s) will this happen? Do we need to evacuate everything during this time? (HUH?!? - dp)
  • What is the in-class food policy, and how strictly is it enforced? (technically, there is not supposed to be ANY food in the room...however, with discretion and care, we could probably get away with some food and drink - dp)
  • Do we need to put serving tables in the hallway outside, or can we use the desks in the rear of the classroom? (in the sitting area outside by the couches, just outside the door, with lots of signs that say "ONLY FOR CAMP 5 attendees!!")
  • Will there be other students in the building during Camp5 + BBQ? (And will they raid our food, if it's available? ;-)  (YES, grad students and staff...and hopefully not if we mark it clearly, and check on it often - dp)
