Responsibilities
The Governance Working Group currently owns the following responsibilities. Its members may organize themselves in whatever way they deem necessary to meet these responsibilities
- Propose a complete constitutional governance model for dotCity organizations
- Propose a plan for the democratic management of the namespace, in accordance with the constraints of the domain name allocation plan
- Codify the guiding principles and basic rights that guide our community
- Provide guidance in and stewardship of the governance of the current collaborative effort
Governance Projects
The following projects have been proposed as ways to meet this group's responsibilities. Click on any of the below projects in order to see what we're thinking so far.
Project: Domain Name Regulations
Attaching rules to the namespace might make things more organized, but it will likely slow down adoption of names. How can we find the sweet spot between free-for-all and total administration?
Project: Constitution
Will our government have branches? How will we elect/appoint positions? What are our founding principles? What are the rights of our members?
Project: Members
Dealing with the specific issues around who is a member and what comes with membership.
Project: Domain Name Allocation Plan
The nuts and bolts of how we'll determine who gets what domain names. We've provided the skeleton of a plan, but it's up to you to help us make it complete.
