• Uniforms, Fall 2007

Hello,

I'm sure that you've been wondering about why you haven't received a letter from us about your son's Ranger uniform. Rest assured, we want our boys to wear their uniforms each week, but we've been struggling with which uniform to wear. The Rangers have multiple classes of uniforms; we're currently wearing Class C uniforms (basically jeans and a t-shirt.) We'd really like to wear Class B uniforms which are more formal -- khaki pants and shirts for Discovery Rangers and jeans and red button down shirts for Ranger Kids. You can view these uniforms by looking in your son's Handbook or by visiting http://tinyurl.com/3ygxz3. The total cost for the Ranger Kids Class B uniform is $46; for Discovery Rangers $72. We had hoped to offset these costs through our fund raising event during the Power Force crusade, but we fell far under our goal as providing uniforms for all current Rangers would cost $1,510. While we haven't given up on raising enough funds to pay for Class B uniforms, we have decided to go ahead with Class C uniforms for Rangers this year.

The Class C uniform consists of a Ranger t-shirt, cap and vest which cost $7.99, $9.99 and $8.95 respectively. In the event that we are able to go to Class B uniforms next year, the cap and vest you have purchased for your son are part of the Class B uniform. If you would like to purchase the complete Class B uniform for your child, you may write a check for $26.93 to Grace Assembly. Cash is also welcome, although we may need to get back with you for your change :)

Each week we collect offering. While we as Commanders don't always remember to ask the boys for it, the offering provided is used to offset the costs for badges, merits, materials and special projects. Thank you for your giving.

I hope that you've heard a lot of good things about Rangers from your son. Please work with them each week on their awards and merits. While we try to include things in our weekly meetings that need to be signed off on, a lot of items need to be worked on at home as well; some merits for Ranger Kids can be earned in a weekend. If you work on something with your son, please initial the item in your son's handbook so that we'll know he's done it. Each week we ask the boys to tell the group about things they've worked on.

Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or would like to help out with the Rangers or just a single activity.

Its an honor serving your children.

Your Commanders,

Discovery Rangers -- Commander Rafael and Commander Antonio
Ranger Kids -- Commander Mike, Commander Vinny, and Commander Mike
