Structure

W- we are a successful project, but how do we include more people- not relying on the capitalist model of a few person responsibility, but stay a wide network.  A structure that incorporates better listening and accountability. The Hard: Setting Priorities, Setting Budgets, Getting the Funding, Making people accountable

M-
One where people’s voices are being heard that is holistic and has accountable relationships. Does this include how to have spaces for people to be creative?

Proposed Structure- 3 working groups, six people in each. Two people from each group meet to form the 6 person “the guiding collective,”  with housekeeping/accountability caucus.

3 working groups:
1.    web
2.    media/ PR
3.    support/ local and college

Fundraising and Distro might be a group too. Making the GC 8 people?

M- Likes to be a networking with media, outreach, and fundraising.   PR etc.

Each committee decides how it wants to meet

SOME QUESTIONS
What are the requirements for a group involvement, meeting amounts?
Personnel structure: who is getting paid?
How do we ask people to be a part of it?  We propose it: and how do we make the transition?
Who decides who is a part of each working group?

PROPOSAL- On the next conference call, can we put out a transparent call for involvement in the conference call for November, and discuss the structure with others then?
S- Take what ideas that have come up, formulate them into proposals, puy them on the web. November, make a clear plan

W-
Seems to be a vision driven thing, but people see Icarus as a separate body.  How can we get out of the “them” vision that members have about Icarus?

A- the three of you draft an email/ blog post/ who do we invite?

Distro Office Plan- Lauren

•    Apple care- Yes!  $161 and change. Worth it if we will have our database set up at the office.
•    Petty cash- send an invoice, need for petty cash, $150
•    Database- We need a clear and better system. Filemaker pro $900, updates from where?  What are we able to do? 
What can be spent on a database?  Filemaker pro?
    Seems best to have database on Office Comp, not accessible on web, just because of expenses.
•    Bookshelf-  $100
•    Microsoft Office- can that happen today?

•    Make it our style and fluid, express how we do things differently

Alicia has drafted it and needs some stories, personal accounts of Icarus for it.
Can we send it out in the beginning of November and have a phone call to donors in mid- to end of November.
