  • Suggested UI improvements to plone.org for theming

    from vedawms on 2008-05-13 15:53
    Hi All,

A bit delayed, but here are my thoughts on how we can improve how themes and
the theming story are surfaced on Plone.org:

    http://www.openplans.org/projects/ootb-plone-themes/round-one

I haven't gotten confirmation that the design suggestions above don't step
on functionality in the Products area, but hopefully will soon. In the
meantime, any feedback would be great.

I'd like to add keyword functionality on this round so that we can tag our
themes. There's a good list here: http://themes.wordpress.net. If people
think it's a complete enough list (we're not ready to go as granular as
"corporate," "blog," etc.), I'll request this functionality be added.

Ideally, we can move in the direction of something like this next time
around: http://themes.wordpress.net. Thanks merckx for mentioning it. If we
can get somebody to volunteer to help us with this (specifically the
"testdrive" feature), I'd be in complete support of it.

There will be another piece to plone.org modifications, too, which is the
documentation area. Trey Beck and I have been offered co-editorship of the
theming area and are open to assistance from others (goal: clean out the
docs, highlight the good docs, identify missing docs, write docs, make sure
that docs link to the necessary resources). We'll let people know as we
start to need assistance and will certainly solicit opinions.

Thanks, looking forward to your feedback,
