Current error messages are in the form of PSMs that are narrow and quiet. They do not seem to have satisfactory feedback. A simple fix on them would be to make the animation "pop" a little more as well as increase the real-estate of the actual message.

The wordpress eg. of moving from a RED to GREEN and then switching off on its own is another animation that keeps the user in an active feedback  loop.
