Summary

Efforts to allow transclusion of content via Javascript, both internally and to external sites.

Mission-driven objectives

Transclusion to external sites allows people to include openplans.org content (e.g., summary information, a badge, latest activity) on external sites.

Local transclusion is a possible alternative to Transcluder, which puts more of the work in the browser.

User stories

Tranclusion is a tool we generally want to give users access to. It allows users to include complex functionality without any programmer involvement. Integration with externally-hosted content allows users to use parts of our service without requiring them to fully commit, or to abandon existing services they use.

Technical & functional objectives

The exact scope is not yet determined, nor has the idea been discussed generally in any detail.

Long-range summary

A neat tool for users.

How we plan to do this

The implementation alone is somewhat done. Analysis of the viability of those implementations, and any problems with that implementation, would be necessary to go forward. A summary of the initial implementation is available in an archived mail message.
