KSS Sprint Track
last modified October 14, 2007 by msaelices
plone.app.kss sprint after the Plone Conference in Naples (13-14-15 October)
The sprint track will be lead by Balazs Ree and Jeroen Vloothuis, and will be targeted at AJAX functionality for Plone 3.5: the development of the plone.app.kss and archetypes.kss products, and custom kss plugins.
The topics for the sprint are:
- refactor the experimental draganddrop plugin to use another
javascript library. - build a demo product using the plugin
- start implementing functionality in Plone that uses the plugin (several possibilities are open)
We will also do server side cleanup:
- get rid of the PloneKSSView class, use the KSSBaseView and commandsets above it.
- separate all zope functionality so that later it can be moved to kss core (kss.zope)
- get rid of archetypes.kss by merging it to plone.app.kss.
The following subjects are also open to join:
- port the experimental livesearch plugin that also supports autocomplete
- new kss configuration tool for Plone
- if you want to learn how to develop a custom plugin, this is a good possibility to learn the technology. Required to attend previously Jeroen Vloothuis's talk, during the conference.
- If you look forward to get your project KiSSed, you can join us for a day. We will discuss your use case and set you started
- Learn by writing tutorials / documentation
- Make screencasts
If you have any other project ideas to propose, let us know:

Project Status
- The first Plone 3 / Zope 3 style KSS tutorial is at 99% completion. All the remains is to eggify the tutorial product and tweak the buildout to match.
We have an entry level for the sprint. We look for the attendance of experienced Plone developers, who either have used kss before, or at least attend the speech of Godefroid Chapelle and the "Introduction to kss" demo of Balazs Ree, during the conference.
Please sign up so we know you participate:
