Ok, So by adding some Proxy roles to the remember scripts, I've been 
able to get users to register with the site and they're put directly 
into the 'private' state.

However, when a user is in this state, I can't actually get them to log 
in. They constantly get 'Login Failed'.

Have you been able to get users to log in using the private profile?
