Hi Mark,
we had the same problem and upgrading PluggableAuthService wasn't the
solution because the patch submitted to solve the problem never made it
into the product.
Try to to still use the version 1.4.2 of PAS and apply the patch I gave
in http://plone.org/products/remember/issues/44. Also I see that someone
proposed to use the version 1.5.2.1 of PAS, you can maybe try that, if
the patch doesn't work for you.
