NYC Web4Roots
Mission Statement:
Our purpose is to bridge the gaps between the grassroots, tech and business communities (for example, many grassroots folks are not aware of tech breakthrough and its applications, while many web2.0 techies are not aware of various social causes that many grassroots people have been fighting for generations). Web is essentially grassroots way of programming software, while software is essentially bridging human world and physical world, and solving social problems. We are based in NYC and intend to work with and empower broad communities of grassroots, artists, and various professionals in NYC.
Group Structure:
This is Home Project of the following sub projects:
- NYC Web4Roots Learning
- NYC Web4Roots Tech Support
- NYC Web4Roots Knowledge Building
More projects will be added later. The sub projects above need project organizers. If you are interested, please let us know. Here is the Relation between Home Project and Sub Projects
Hope the sub projects above will give you an idea what this group is trying to achieve. Having ideas of other subjects that will help us achieve our mission? Propose a sub project . Anyone can host a project. The process of reviewing a proposed project will be formalized.
A committee will be formed. Currently the committee will consist of members in charge of Sub Projects. Possibly working groups will be formed with each working group focusing on one specific role (such as tech, finance, outreach). More about the committee will come up soon. The principle here is that the organization structure should be as simple as possible.
Mailing Lists are created. Each mailing list has its own purpose. Please use the mailing lists for different discussions
