Other Bits of Usefulness and Fun:
Fri Night
Jonathan is making a dinner reservation!
A couple of options from earlier on...he's making the res based on these suggestions and a bunch of others:
- Wogies - Inexpensive, can handle large-ish groups (will have to split us up, but I'm sure they'll have seating), tasty cheesesteaks of all kinds, beer, and incredible waffle fries. Cosy n friendly. 39 Greenwich Avenue, between Charles and Perry.
- Shake Shack. Cheap, tasty burgers. Long line, ugh. In a lovely park. All outside, so only feasible if it's warmish. Open from 11am to 11pm. Madison Ave & 23rd St.
- Upright Citizens Brigade would be awesome, and the shows that Friday night are a mere $8, but they are having something called "Offensive Fest"...might not totally be Suz's scene.
Brunch Suggestions
7A - In the East Village (corner of 7 and A), open 24hrs, everything is tasty. We'd have to call the night before to make a reservation, as med-to-large parties will otherwise take some time.
Jane - Nr Houston & West Broadway - OMIGOD THE FRENCH TOAST. More expensive-ish, totally tasty. Also, reservations key.
Costume Shops
If you're, hint hint, lookin' for a costume on Saturday afternoon:
The Brooklyn Superhero Supply (right down the street from VH!) has, well, superhero supplies. They're not a straight up costume shop, but they are fantastic. All the proceeds go to the creative writing center in the back. 372 fifth Ave, near the Union St (R) stop and the 9th St (F, R) stop.
The Village Paper Party Store - 18 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY - near the Christopher St (1) stop and the W 4th (A B C D E F V) stop. Big, lots of stuff.
Other Stuff
If you're looking for things to do with the definitely free portions of the weekend (Fri afternoon, pre-brunch, Saturday afternoon), look no further:
- Madison Square Park - Shake Shack. Shakes and burgers. Cheap and tasty. Beautiful. Ok or Washington Square park to catch a couple of street acts, but they don't have Shake Shack.
- Take the subway to Brooklyn (to the High St stop, most likely) and when you get to Brooklyn go to Jacques Torres' (yeah, the chocolate chef from Food Network) shop for hot chocolate or other tastiness + the best view of the city. 66 Water Street. Walk back via the Bklyn or Manhattan bridge with your favorite RT-ers. You won't forget it.
- Shoppin' on Broadway both N and S of Houston.
- The Strand - Ok, we're RT, right? So we're going to spend our weekend buying books. Let's give in. 828 Broadway...2 blocks south of Union Square.
