This information is a summary of the help files provided with the OpenPlans website.

TO SIGN UP:

• Anyone can sign up as a member of the OpenPlans website,
• Create an account by going to www.openplans.org/join. Fill in information for a username and your name, email, and a password. When you click "Join", OpenPlans will send you an email with instructions on how to activate your accout.
• You'll want to join in order to join and participate with the South Dakota Cadastral Initiative project on the OpenPlans website. Anyone can view the web pages for the project without being a member, but you'll want to join so that you can interact (edit the wiki, send messages using the mailing list, etc.).

Once you've signed up you can join a project by clicking on "Join Project" under the project website's home page. The South Dakota Cadastral Initiative home page is at: http://www.openplans.org/projects/south-dakota-cadastral-initiative/project-home. You can also join a project and join OpenPlans when you are sent an email invitation. All committee members will be invited by email to join OpenPlans and the South Dakota Cadastral Initiative project on the OpenPlans website.

WIKI PAGES:

• The wiki pages for the South Dakota Cadastral Initiative OpenPlans project are editable documents that are stored online. In order to edit pages, you have to be a member of the project. You edit pages by clicking on the "edit" tab at the top-right of any project page. When you finish editing, click "Save" at the bottom of the page and you will be returned to the "view page" mode.
• You can add a images and attachments to the wiki pages. To add an attachment, put the wiki page in edit mode and click on "Manage Attachments" at the bottom of the page. You can browse for the file, add a title, and then upload the file. Attaching files does not work if there is an underline symbol in the name of the file.
• The wiki pages can have links and you can view and download attached documents.

MAILING LISTS:

• A mailing list has been created for the South Dakota Cadastral Initiative OpenPlans project. All members of the Cadastral Initiative are on the list, but not all have subscribed yet.
• You can subscribe to the mailing list by clicking on the "Mailing Lists" button under the project name on any of the project web pages. On the right, there is a place for you to type in your email - then click the "Subscribe Address" button.
• To send a message: You can send a message using the website by clicking on "Mailing Lists" and selecting the list you want to contact. Click "Messages" in the top right corner and then "Write New Message". A message will be sent from your email to the list.
• You can see who is a member of the mailing list by clicking on the list name and then clicking on "Membership" in the upper right corner of the web page.
