Sketch for the interface.

1. General parts

* Apart from the top menu and the red for the first level titles in the main body, leave all fonts as they currently are. Meaning H2, H3, Links, roll-overs etc... can stay as they currently are in the current theme.

* I also like the current behavior of the columns and the semi-liquid resizing. I would leave untouched unless necessary.

* Annotations are underneath the jpg.

2. Main index page

01. Top graphic
The logo on the left should be aligned left.
The brown part of the top graphic is a solid image and can stretch as needed.

02. Title and sub-title
Should be text not images, the blog's title and the blog's 1 line description from the admin panel.

03. Top navigation
About, Help : Are wordpress "pages"
Participants: Is a new page that needs to be created [details lower down]
RSS entries: Should remain the default behavior of the RSS button on a standard wordpress install
Login: Redirects to the wp-login page
2007 archive: is a static link to thing-a-day.com/2007 (i might change this later).

If more "Pages" are added, they should appear up there as well.

04. Search
Standard search

05. Calendar
Standard calendar. Could use a sans-serif font instead of this one -- typography should follow the rest of the bog, this is a placemat (screenshot from another site)

06. This week's tags
SPECIAL: I will select a weekly set of tags. This can/should be static content as i will be the only one editing this once a week. I'll create internal links to existing tags.

7. Tag clouds
Again, the image here is just a bad screenshot. The important thing is that the tag cloud should order words by popularity (descending). It should also fade the words out as the list goes and cut after a certain percentage of fade... So the popularity is reflected by the opacity not the font-size (easy??).

8. Participants

Lists in alphabetical order all -and only- the participants (authors or administrators) of the site who have posted a new entry in the past 3 days.
The total number of these "active" participants should print next to the title "paricipants" --here, it says "99 active".

09. Footer
Nothing special. A 2 parts graphic where the right hand side can be stretched as needed. One line of small text underneath. I will add links etc. in there later.

10. Date of the posts (prints once a day in this way)
Total number of posts for this date should print next to title in a font size aprox 40% smaller than the title.

11. Post information part 1

Regular entry. Keep same font as current except for the italics:
Thin grey line
Title of post
Month, Date, time in hour: mins: sec am/pm by username as link <br />
tagged list tags entered by users comma seperated. Tags are links.

12. Voting plugin. Has been installed.

Ignore look and feel, but should be fitted to display properly

13. Main content of the post

Leave as is

14. Post information part 2

Use same fonts as for part 1 (#11).
Link to Permalink, Number of comments, add your comments, and if relevant "edit"

-----------------------------------------------------------------

3. All other pages

Should follow same template. Top bar, sidebar and footer stay as is.

A/ User page

Print at top, if they have been filled out by the user:

- username (title of page)

- full name

- location [add this field in the back-end for each user]

- website

- biographical info (existing field from user profile's pages)

Followed by all of the user's entries.

B/ Tag page/Date archive

Title on top and then the posts as they appear on the home page

C/ Details of a post

Title and post information that are displayed should be the same as on the home page.  (means removing the RSS these comments, the URI trackback etc...)
The entire post prints.

NEW ADDITION: we should be able to  navigate to:

- the previous and next posts in chronological order

- also, the user's "previous" and "next" posts from this page.

The comments module should be left untouched.
