    Not sure if you guys have seen/heard of these guys before, but they're  
    a pretty bomb design firm out in SF that's doing lots of work with  
    mapping and data visualizations:

    Ya they are quite fantastic. Look out for their projects that deal  
    with Oakland stats on where ex-cons live and such (govt. data thats  
    public).
    
    They also give a lot of talks in NYC. The last one was a Rhizome  
    planned talk called NEXT CITY - moderated by Adam Greenfield. The  
    panel was really excellent. Will look out for more of these and pass  
    it to the list.

            I think it's also like Yahoo's new FireEagle, although FireEagle is  
            more of a service than a full-on application (in other words, a site  
            like facebook might use FireEagle to develop a tool like brightkite or  
            dodgeball).
