Public speaking is tough. Here's a list of
TOPP Talks Tips
to help you make the most of your time behind the podium.
Making slides for your presentation? Use the official TOPP Talks Template ! For the LaTeX fans there's also a handy template and guide for making a pretty nice presentation with beamer.
Need some help putting your talk together? Get on the Mailing list for the project and look for a partner. There's also an IRC channel at irc://irc.freenode.net/topp-talks
Want to make TOPP Talks better? Comments, criticisms, conundrums are all welcome at the
TOPP Talks Suggestion Box
. (Try saying it out loud, it sounds pretty good right?)
Having trouble coming up with a talk topic? Check the topic building worksheet for some inspiration!
Welcome to the TOPP Talks project, tracking past and future lunch talks for the TOPP office. The goal for these talks is to foster communication within the office, both about general 'what we do' type issues as well as 'this interests me' ones. This page lists all the topics that are in the works or have already been given. We invite you to edit this list, but to help keep things manageable we ask that you stick to the following rules:
- If you would like to give a talk, stick the topic in the list with your name by it. If your talk isn't ready yet, please give an estimate of how long it would take you to prepare.
- If you would like to hear a talk, stick the topic in the list and don't put a name by it.
