Internships
Open Plans interns gain real-world experience shaping New York City’s streets through advocacy, organizing, communications, and public policy. Working closely with a staff mentor and a small cohort, interns contribute to active campaigns and build meaningful connections with community partners, city agencies, and fellow advocacy organizations.

Livable Streets Intern
Join Open Plans as a Livable Streets summer intern and dive into hands-on work making New York City a more people-centered, joyful place to live. Our hybrid, NYC-based cohort meets in person two days a week to support real-world efforts around school streets, low-traffic neighborhoods, curb reform, and more. You’ll gain practical experience in NYC urbanism while helping advance a people-first approach to public space and mobility.
