Jake Knoll
Jake Knoll is the Communications Director at Open Plans, where he ensures the organization’s impact is felt across New York City’s media ecosystem and on New Yorkers’ social media pages. He joined the team in 2026.
Jake brings years of experience in strategic and political communications to Open Plans, including supporting major urban policy projects in New York and Washington, DC, while working at BerlinRosen. He’s deeply passionate about making cities more vibrant and livable, a passion that started when the trials and tribulations of his first college apartment search introduced him to urbanism. In DC, he served as an elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, where he fought hard for better bus and bike infrastructure for his constituents. He holds an MPS in Political Management and a BA in Political Science from the George Washington University.
Jake loves to love hobbies, and those under his belt include gardening, fishing, amateur meteorology, biking, doomscrolling Twitter, and making coffee.
